Elaine has worked within critical care and worked very closely with children who required long term ventilation. Children would be spending years in critical care waiting for discharge. She witnessed the stress and significant impact that hospitalisation had on these families. When she saw the advert for the WellChild Nurse for Long Term Ventilation she seized the opportunity to make a difference. She has already made lots of changes and has helped families get home but this is just the tip of the iceberg. She is looking forward to the challenges ahead and is planning on making a huge difference to the lives of long term ventilated children.

Elaine supports patients and their families, carers and health/social care professionals within the hospital and community. She acts as both case manager and advocate for the individual, whilst assessing the needs of the patient and family to establish bespoke and effective homecare for all patients requiring invasive LTV.
